COOK'S RACING UP-DATE
Season started on a low note, due to waiting on parts for motor & various other things. Missed all Alaska Raceway schedule for May & June.
Racing action started in Edmonton Canada on July 5th for the Quick 16 at the 2008 Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series, CARS RV & Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by TORCO Racing Fuels.
Both John Childs (also from Alaska) and Steve Cook qualified for the field. Steve qualified 4th, and John qualified 6th.
As it would turn out, Steve & John would have to race each other in First Round Eliminations where John got the job done with a 7.371 et 198.44 mph run, over Steve's disappointing 7.712 et 152.57 run. A long way to drive just to race each other again.
John Child went on to the Finals racing against Scott Hearn's Dragster. John ran 7.251 et 192.71 to Hearn's 7.157 et 186.54 mph run. Hearn was off the line faster which made the difference.

John Child's

And if I knew these two were going to be at Edmonton, I would have gone there with Steve
Next race will be at Fort St. John, British Columbia Northern Lights Raceway July 12-13, 2008
The report from Steve about the Fort St John race was not what I or anyone wanted to hear. Seems the car had a mishap with the guard rails when it took a violent left turn after hitting second gear, apparently smacking the right guard rail also. Damage to the car was extensive. We'll soon have some photo's to share.
